Jane Austen Potpourri Wreath
This very feminine wreath inspired by the Jane Austen era is a creation made from the Modern Romance Floral Collection of Ashland Signature Accents, found at Michael's Arts and Craft Stores. The wreath is made of Potpourri and is perfect for a guest bathroom or your front door.
What You Need
A box of Fragranced Potpourri
(I used Floral Romance)
Naturally Wired Brown Vine Covered Wire
Needle Nose Pliers with Wire Cutter
Hot Glue Gun
- Cut two pieces of wire. The outside ring should be 47" and the inside ring should be 37".
- Make each ring, overlapping the last two inches on each side and twisting together to seal the ring.
- Make a loop with the wire and attach it to the inside ring at the top of the wreath.
- Weave in and out of the two rings with another piece of wire, measuring about one inch near the top of the wreath and increasing to about 3-4" near the bottom of the wreath.
- Create a bowl shape with the wreath, the inside ring being about an inch deeper than the outside ring and the zig-zag pieces having an arch shape.
Begin hot gluing the large circular objects near the bottom of the wreath. These objects should fit nicely into the scooped shape of the wire.
Begin filling in the open spaces around the larger circular objects with smaller pieces. Make sure to balance the colors so they are even all the way around the wreath. The wreath should have a nice full look as you continue to work your way round the ring, filling in open spaces as you go. Notice the shape of the wreath - thinner and delicate at the top and bolder and more pronounced at the base. You can see the loop at the top where the wreath will hang.
*Helpful Hint: Use the needle nose pliers to remove hot glue strands from tough to reach places in between objects!
This is a picture of the back of the wreath, so you have an idea what it looks like. The zig-zag piece of wire is holding in the larger structural pieces, which the smaller ones are attached to and rely on for support. Make sure to secure each piece with plenty of hot glue on the back of the wreath.
This is a gorgeous welcome on the front door, or an excellent way to keep your powder room smelling fresh (as it is made of potpourri!)
oh I LOVE this!!!
