Mane Highlights for Friday May 2, 2014

Hear Me Roar!: Happy Easter to all!  Christ is risen, Alleluia!  I have been very busy on the blog since my last highlights post, before Easter.  If you didn't catch my post on Holy Week, explaining how Christ's death on Good Friday to his Resurrection on Sunday is counted as three days, see my post called How is that Three Days linked below.

Check out the reflection post for Easter, called Christ is Risen and the humorous post on the Love Languages called The Gift Giver

Reflection of the Week: Christ is Risen
The Church has celebrated the season of Easter for 50 days, from Easter Sunday until Pentecost, since the 3rd century.  (Take that Lent!)  The first week is celebrated as one continuous Easter day, in which the newly baptized wore their baptismal garb and celebrated their new life in Christ.  The joy of the risen Lord permeates the Church! Gallery Piece of the Week: Tulips and Barn
I love the dichotomy between the beautiful tulips and the battered barn in this shot I was able to capture.  It is perfect in commemorating Easter and the risen Christ.

Chic of the Week: The Gift Giver
There are those who feel very loved through the constant act of receiving little tokens of affection from others.  There are those who find it unnecessary.  Those who feel trapped in the cycle of being indebted to the gift giver.  And then there are those who feel overwhelmed by stuff in general.  This last group might even consider that the gift giver has a serious problem with materialism, and that her insecurity compels her to pass it along to others.  Continue

Holy Week Post: How is that Three Days?
Each Holy Week, I have to remind myself again how a Friday Crucifixion and Sunday Resurrection equals three days.  If you have also found yourself scratching your head over this one and settling on the fact that the biblical authors were not mathematicians, then allow me to clarify. Continue

I leave you with this until next week: Mommy Moment
I am not sure if this is just boys, toddlers, or a combination of both...BUT in taking my double stroller (they sit one in front of the other, back to back) up a hill in a tulip field, I parked it to take a quick picture.  In those few seconds, my toddler decided he wanted to get out of the stroller.  Instead of just jumping forward (he was in front), he thought the better thing to do would be to stand up, turn around, and jump over the handle.  What the?  Does this make sense to any of you?  So, therefore, his poor unsuspecting brother was catapulted out of the stroller when the whole thing tipped backward down the hill.  Of course, he thought this was something that should be repeated, like going down a slide.  His brother, on the other hand, I am sure was hoping he would keep rolling right down that hill and into the pond!
