Mane Highlights for February 21, 2014

Hear Me Roar!: This week I have found myself very invested in the Winter Olympics.  I cringed as Shaun White bit it on the halfpipe and celebrated as if I was out there on the ice as Davis and White won the U.S. our first ice dancing gold!  The precision and physical ability of these athletes is incredible and what is even more amazing is how many years of their lives have been dedicated to perfecting their art.

The commercials in which footage of the athletes was shown as early as their first attempt at the sport was incredible.  I cannot imagine introducing my three or four year old to a sport and then driving them to practice several hours a day for the rest of their lives!

Dynamic Quote: Olympic Inspiration

“Each of us has a fire in our hearts for something. It’s our goal in life to find it and keep it lit.”
- Mary Lou Retton (winner of gold medal at 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games)

I leave you with this until next week: Character Award
Swedish freestyle skier Henrik Harlaut wins the 2014 Olympic Character Award!  This crazy character made himself known at Sochi for his signature style low drawers, which actually fell off mid-flight before he crashed into the slope.
