Angels Among Us?

When all else fails, many of us would do what 19-year-old Katie Lentz did after being trapped in her Mercedes due to a head on collision, and that is pray.  After an hour and a half of rescue workers trying to get Katie out of the mangled Mercedes, it seemed that she was failing and that they may lose her.  Katie's voice rose from her trapped position in the wreckage and asked the rescue workers if they would pray with her.

At that point a mysterious priest appeared from seemingly nowhere with anointing oil to pray with them.  New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed said of the incident, "A sense of calmness came over her, and it did us as well. I can't be for certain how it was said, but myself and another firefighter, we very plainly heard that we should remain calm, that our tools would now work and that we would get her out of that vehicle."

The Hannibal Fire Department showed up after the prayer with equipment which was able to finish Katie's extraction before it was too late, and she was able to be transferred to a hospital by helicopter.

The priest however was no where in sight, evading a dozen rescue workers who had been on the scene hoping to thank him.  This remains a mystery to all involved who had made sure that the highway had been blocked for a quarter of a mile during the rescue, allowing no bystanders or parked cars.

Divinely ordained?  Angelically inspired?  Happenstance?  Anonymous good Samaritan?  Whatever the case, Reed concludes, "We have a lot of tools, and we have intensive training. In this particular case, it is my feeling that it was nothing more than sheer faith and nothing short of a miracle."
