Mane Highlights for Friday March 21, 2014

Hear Me Roar!: Today is my birthday!  What a week I share with two holy powerhouses: St. Patrick and St. Joseph.  These men are remembered for so much more than a shamrock shake and carpentry, and I am honored to remember them during my birth week.

My article for CatholicMom this month is called Seeds of Doubt, and really shakes things up.  Admit it, we all fall into the trap of manipulating others by using the big "IF."  If you really cared/loved me/wanted me to be happy, etc.  These patterns are easy to fall into, but man do they turn others off.

        Belly Laughs and Awkward Moments:
True Confessions of a Breastfeeding Mom
On a long drive home by myself with the kiddos in the car, I hoped to make it all the way back before the baby needed to nurse.  Sure enough he began wailing on a toll road.  With 20+ mins to go and without wanting him to wake up his brother, I made the strategic decision to pull over and feed him.  I continued to glance in my side view mirror, paranoid that a police officer would stop to check on me.  Finally, I let it go and stopped paying attention.  No sooner than I had stopped paying attention, an officer stood at my window scaring the stuffing out of me.  He began in monotone, "Can I help you..."  And then realizing the baby in my lap wedged behind the steering wheel, he stopped.  His eyes got huge and he put his hands together in a prayer motion.  With a bit of a bow he exclaimed, "Wow!"  (I was covered mind you.)  It seems that this was a first for him and perhaps a shocking relief of comedy.  He was very gracious as he made sure I got baby safely back in the car, but I can only imagine him calling that one in!

I leave you with this until next week: Irish Blessing
