Heart Shaped Deco Ball Wreath

As the blazing summer sun beats down on my front door each day, I realized that I needed something decorative that was not held together with any sort of glue.  I have actually had pieces of other door ornaments fall off after hours of the sun melting the glue that holds them on.  This simple heart-shaped wreath uses no glue and can look any way you like it depending on the colorful or rustic deco balls that you choose.

What You Need

  • Naturally Wired Brown Vine Covered Wire
  • Package of Deco Balls
  • Drill or sharp object for piercing through Deco Balls
  • Scotch Tape
Form the shape of your wreath with the wire.

Make sure each of your Deco Balls has a whole in each side to pass the wire through.
If these are hard plastic or wood, they will require a drill.  If they are a softer material they may only require a scissor or sharp object.

These popular wicker Deco Balls are great because they require no piercing.
I decided to experiment with some natural dye in order to give a more vibrant color to my wreath.  I used red wine and grape juice and rotated them in a pot over low heat.  Beat juice actually works the best for a red/fuschia color.

Here is the result!  The only problem is that natural dyes tend to fade faster in the sun, so you may want to choose pre-dyed Deco Balls or use a commercial dye.

Wrap each end of the wire with scotch tape so that that will not fray as you begin.

Choose the pattern that you like in stringing on the Deco Balls.
The last and final one will be placed in the middle of the heart, bringing the wreath together.

Twist the wire together after stringing the last Deco Ball.

On the back side of the wreath, make a loop with the twisted wire and secure.

This loop allows a hidden hanger for your wreath.

Finally, hang your wreath and enjoy!
No worries about how hot it gets out there, this one isn't going anywhere.
